GC: Los Alamitos "Sound FX" (BV) (BC)

2nd Runner-Up: Zionsville "Royalaires" OR Carmel "Ambassadors"
3rd Runner-Up: Petal "Soundsations"
4th Runner-Up: Auburn "Varsity Singers" (BB)
5th Runner-Up: Olentangy "Keynotes" OR Daniel Hand "VIBE"
I will be interested to see how this turns out! It's really hard for me to predict the Carmel/Zionsville part of the matchup because Zionsville doesn't compete until this weekend. The competition is also stiff for that sixth spot! Wishing all teams luck.
Can confirm that Zionsville Royalaires got 1st runner up (2nd) and Zionsville Choralaires got 2nd runner up (3rd) After seeing how other groups have done this season, these are some solid predictions!
Finals at SCN is only for mixed choirs. There will be 6 mixed choirs performing on Saturday morning. There have never been treble finals here either, although I personally think that would be very interesting.
The big issue is timing. Comp has to be out of the venue by a certain time in the afternoon on Friday and Saturday (I believe this is due to other events occurring there), which is why there’s a limit on how many groups can come, with many booking a couple of years in advance.
Treble group can’t make it because of the scoring. Scoresheet has a section for both male and female sound, which is an obvious flaw if you wanted to include those groups. However, on Thursday night, they are judged the same way that the finals groups are, where it’s purely based on ranks. All five judges vote without a scoresheet 1st through 6th (or whatever it is) overall, then by vocals and by choreography. Consensus rankings determines placement and captions.
The winner of this contest has taken Best Vocals and Best Choreography ever year since 2015 when it was split between Glenwood and Center Grove.
Los Alamitos has never lost this contest. They competed in 2010, 2014, 2016, 2019, and 2022, and they won all five comps.
First place is typically unanimous. Only one time since 2014 is confirmed to be split, and that was 2023 with 3 judges putting Linn-Marr in first place and two judges putting Homewood in first place.
Los Alamitos has never competed against Carmel, but has competed against the other two titans of Indianapolis. They are 5-1 against Center Grove and Franklin Central, with the only loss being against a historically good Center Grove at Wheaton Warrenville South last year.

Show Choir Nationals has been in existence since 2002 and has long established itself as one of the premier national competitions. I've admired SCN for their reputation and as an enduring force amid a turbulent "national" show choir circuit. I wanted to spend some time this summer to really do a deep dive and memorialize Show Choir Nationals with their place in the show choir history books.
With that said, I'm thrilled to share that we now have a record on showchoir.com of every Show Choir Nationals since its inception in 2002 to present times. This includes the full final results for every SCN event and complete line-up for every event except the 2006 editions in Nashville and Orlando (if anyone has the 2006 line-up of attending choirs, treble division results, etc, please DM me). A lot of these results already existed on showchoir.com, but most of the early SCN events were previously undocumented on this site. I fully encourage folks to explore this archive and see all the little treasures, interesting tidbits, and familiar names (and you can conveniently do so by cycling through the events via the arrows buttons surrounding the "Show Choir Nationals" title above; all except for the Show Choir Nationals Orlando 2006 page which exists on its own). A few caveats: I'm one person who just did my best with this summer side quest. There could be some minor errors or missing information that was not captured in the self-reported results of yesteryear or in the newspaper archives. I'm pretty pleased with the data, especially for the early years of SCN, but I'd be happy to fix or add anything (DMs are open!).
While showchoir.com is most active during the competition season, it's also a living museum of all the magical moments that this activity gifts us, past and present. SCN has been a pillar in the show choir community for nearly 25 years and I wanted to capture that to celebrate their history. Below is a snapshot of all the Grand Champions in SCN history; explore the pages to see more detail.
