After Brio Beating Grenada, and both of which lost to Oak Mountain, How are we thinks things are going to shake up? Given the fact that Wheaton took vocals from Oak Mountain and Petal just a fees weeks ago at homewood and being seemingly successful since then, I could see this comp going so many different ways. It’s going to be a bloodbath for sure!!

For me, this one is between Brandon and Wheaton. The vocals caption was very close at Homewood, averaging out to a point or so per judge from 1-3 (possibly 1-4), so while Wheaton certainly is the favorite for the vocals caption, it could go either way. With this panel, I’d give a slight edge to Brandon overall, but it’s certainly not insurmountable for Wheaton.

Grenada seems to be a lock for third place unless Loveland or Troy really shows out. I don’t know that I’ve seen Troy on video or live, but I do know Loveland has historically put out very high energy shows. It’s also important to note that there is a heavier emphasis on vocals up North, which Southern groups historically have not been able to match. Notable exceptions being Clinton (except 2013), Homewood last year, and Petal in 2019. Brandon the last few years has sang well, but not held up to the Midwest groups they’ve faced other than Wheaton South in 2023. The Brandon vs Wheaton rematch looks to be the big storyline here.

This one already looks like a bloodbath of a competition with great representation from all over. Center Grove, Neosho, Lafayette Jefferson, Brandon, Glenwood, Loveland....
