Lovar Davis Kidd, known by L.D., is a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is an interdisciplinary performer, choreographer, and abstract artist dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices through immersive artistic experiences and social justice initiatives. L.D. earned his MFA in Choreography from the University of Iowa, where he engaged in choreographic research grounded at the intersections of contemporary movement practices, black vernacular aesthetics, and technologies.
Drawing from his biracial heritage(s), Kidd's artistic process is deeply rooted in social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusivity (DEI) efforts, which he channels through his apparel company, 100% OVER RACISM.
With an extensive performance background, L.D. has showcased his talents across the United States. Highlights include roles in the 2nd National Tour of Lin Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights, Tim Rice & Elton John’s Aida at Sacramento Music Circus, Disney California Adventure Park's Aladdin "A Musical Spectacular," and with the Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular. He has also danced for Helanius J. Wilkins’ DC-based EDGEWORKS Dance Theater and LA-based dance companies Word In Motion and Urban Poets.
Beyond performance and choreography, L.D. is a passionate educator. He is a teaching artist with Throughline Arts, specializing in arts integration for K-8 students. Additionally, L.D. spent a decade as an adjunct instructor at the University of Iowa, teaching Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, and Jazz for Musical Theatre, and continues working as a freelance show choir choreographer.
