The typical West Coast circuit doesn't lend itself to this much given the general lack of finals, but it's pretty common in other show choir circuits for intermediate, prep, or JV groups to place ahead of other school's advanced/varsity groups. Certainly speaks to the quality of program at Burroughs. A very cool, and rare, feat for Sound Waves.
Indeed, but also if Powerhouse and Sound Sensations were at the competition it is easy to imagine that they would have taken two slots in the finals and it’s unlikely the judges would have given the fourth to Sound Waves. Decibelles also would not have been out of place in the finals. Taking a trip without the advanced choirs was a big bet that paid off.
I wonder if they would do more of these I’d love to see soundwaves go up against spectrums prep groups or other schools it be interesting to see how they would do
