Does the Heart of America have difficulty rules about hosting groups competing? Normally the hosting group does not compete and I heard that Brea Olinda was hosting this competition as announced during awards. Any insight??
Center Grove Debtones not only have a chance to go undefeated this year, but to do so while winning the major captions at every competition. Excited to see if they are able to do it.
Edit: Nevermind. I missed that they did lose Best Choreography to Carmel at one contest. Still a great season given the competition they’ve faced.
Great question! I was thinking 2019 Los Al but while Soundtrax was undefeated, SoundFX took 2nd twice. Wonder if there is an easy way to search for this.
Not sure if it’s happened more recently in other regions, but both Center Grove Sound System and Debtones went undefeated in a COVID-shortened 2021 season, where Sound System won all three of their competitions while the Debtones won the two they attended
Probably just Carmel honestly. Circa 2007-2008 possibly. Ambassadors returned to competition in 2007 and won state. 2008 won again. Prior to their return, accents was winning everything. So there maybe overlap. I cant Think of a region outside of Indiana that is as competitive in mixed and in Single-Gender choirs. I’m. Biased but Indiana show choir while also being the foundation of what is show choir now, does singing and choreo well and has a very competitive tiered system. System isn’t the most apt word but it’ll do. Meaning small mixes large mixed small Single-Gender or large, any number of outcomes can and do happen. There’s so much parity. Even with the middle schools. The biggest groups nationally don’t necessarily have great single gendered choirs or jv. I couldnr tell you John Burroughs women’s or men’s groups. Burbank. Attaché. Marysville swingsations. Waubonsie valley. But Carmel accents and ambassadors. Center grove sound system and debtones. Zionsville royallaires and chorolaires. Loveland in Ohio does have a girls group they started in 2015 but aren’t we high profile as the mixed. Tho they are having a better season this year.
I say All this to say 1. Im old lol I performed at 2007 state central sound got 3d. 2. If a school has had that happen. I would 95% believe it’s an Indiana group.
