Tom Hales is an arranger, clinician, adjudicator, and former teacher based outside Washington, D.C. Prior to his "new life" in real estate, he served a decade in vocal music classrooms, including six years as Director of Choral Activities at Sioux City East High School (IA). Choirs under his direction garnered invitations to perform at events including the Iowa Choral Showcase (2019), Dorian Vocal Festival (2020), and the 2021 National Convention of the American Choral Directors Association, while show choirs under his leadership earned grand champion or first runner-up awards in seven states. From 2021 to 2023, he was Fine Arts Coordinator of the Sioux City Community School District.
Tom grew up in Iowa, holds a degree in Music Education from Iowa State University, and completed the M.M. in Choral Conducting at Michigan State University. In his free time, Tom enjoys cooking, golfing, traveling, college sports, and spending quality time with his friends, extended family, and beautiful wife, Annie.
